SC 482 Temporary Skills Shortage visa

This temporary visa lets an employer sponsor a suitably skilled worker to fill a position they can’t find a suitably skilled Australian to fill. This visa has a total of three streams: short-term, medium-term, and labour agreement stream. Generally, to get this visa, you must be sponsored by an approved sponsor and have the right skills to do the job. You will need to provide the necessary evidence for the English proficiency for the respective stream. The average processing time for this visa is 9 months. If eligible, this visa may lead you to a permanent residency visa. You can be at any age to be able to apply. You must organize a health examination and must meet health and character requirements.

This visa lets you live and work in Australia temporarily. This visa enables employers to address labour shortages by bringing in skilled workers where employers can’t source an appropriately skilled Australian worker. Before you can apply for a TSS visa, your proposed employer will need to submit a nomination application for you. They will only be able to do this if they are an approved sponsor or have at least submitted an application to become a Standard business sponsor.

You may be able to apply for a permanent residency visa if eligible. To be eligible, you must be nominated by an approved sponsor for an occupation that is available on STSOL. You must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in your nominated occupation or related field within 5 years (does not have to be continuous). Experience gained during PhD, Clinical or Industry placement, Internship or apprenticeship may be accepted. Generally, you need to have worked full time, however, the government might consider equivalent part-time work. Any casual work will not be considered. You may be asked to submit a relevant skills assessment if required for your occupation. You must work only for your sponsor. You need to provide English proficiency proof with a minimum of overall 5 bands with at least 4.5 in each module, unless exempted. You can be at any age when applying for his visa. You must meet the health and character requirement along with proving GTE. You must maintain adequate health cover to insure you for the entire intended period of your visa. The processing time may vary from 3 to 15 months. An application for this visa will cost AUD 1290. With this visa, you will need to maintain conditions 8303, 8501, and 8607.

Labour agreements are developed between the Australian Government (represented by the Department) and employers. If eligible, you will be granted for a visa for up to 4 years (duration may vary depending on the terms and labour agreement). To be eligible, you must be nominated to work in a specified occupation under the terms of the labour agreement. You must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in your nominated occupation or a related field unless varied by the terms of the labour agreement.

You may be asked to submit a relevant skills assessment if required for your occupation. You must work only for your sponsor. You need to provide English language skills suitable to perform your nominated occupation as specified in the Labour agreement between your employer and the Commonwealth.

The applicable conditions under this visa are 8303, 8501 and 8607.

If you are granted the SC 186 under the Temporary Residence Transition Stream, you will be allowed to live and work in Australia permanently. You will also be allowed to sponsor your eligible family members to come to Australia and if eligible, you can apply for citizenship as well.

To be eligible for this visa, you must have sponsorship from your employer to work full-time under SC 482 or 457 for at least 2 to 3 years (prior to nominating you for SC 186). Generally, the candidate must be under 45 years of age. You are required to submit an English language proficiency proof with an overall score of 6 as well as an individual score of 6 bands in each module. You must meet the health and character requirement. The processing time may vary from 6 to 18 months. A visa application for this visa will cost AUD 4115. Under this visa, the only condition that applies is 8515.

SC 494

Skilled Sponsored Regional (provisional) visa is a provisional residency visa available to skilled workers. This visa enables regional employers to address identified labour shortages within their region by sponsoring skilled workers where employers can’t source an appropriately skilled Australian worker. It is available to both onshore (currently living on temporary residency visas) and offshore applicants.

In order to get this visa, you must be nominated by an approved sponsor. You must have an occupation listed on the relevant skilled occupation list, along with a positive skill assessment from the relevant authority. You will be exempted from the skills assessment requirement if you hold SC 457 at the time of application for SC 494. You will need to have a nomination from an approved employer. You will need to provide the necessary English language proficiency for the relevant stream. You must organize a health examination and must meet health and character requirements. This subclass has two further sub streams: Employer Sponsored Stream and Labour Agreement Stream.

This visa allows skilled workers who are nominated by their employer live, work and study in designated regional areas of Australia for up to 5 years. If eligible, you can apply for permanent residency after three years from the time your visa is granted.

In order to be granted this visa, you must have at least three years of relevant work experience and must be nominated to work in an occupation available on the relevant skilled occupation list along with a positive skills assessment from the relevant skills assessing authority.

You must be under 45 years of your age, unless specified for exemption in you labour agreement. You must meet the health and character requirement. The processing time may vary from 3 to 10 months.
